The installation of shower trays depends on the type of tray that you are planning to install. Shower trays of various types are available in the market. The installation of a shower tray is not a very difficult job. Shower trays are usually heavy and the lifting and fixing actions should be done by two people at least. Before you start installing your tray, you should always check whether it is in a proper condition or not. You should also take enough care not to bring about any damage to the parts that will be visible after installing it. After you have taken enough precaution, you need to know what kind of installation you want, whether you want a floor installation or a raised one. But for any kind of installation you need to ensure water tight sealing around the edges. It is always good to install trays before putting tiles on the walls. This makes the whole procedure better and more effective. You should also see to it that the tray is level when you put it. It is preferred if the tray is slightly tilting. In that way, it will not be necessary for you to always lift the tray to let the water drain away. If you are installing the tray on the floor, you should assure that the tray is sitting on some concrete base so that it doesn’t move.
Coming to the installation of shower trays, when you install a standard tray, then you have to have a base built. In this way you can access the waste trap and pipeline work. You can cut a 4 inch x 2 inch timber and make plywood top with it. The cuts should be made in the sides to make a pass for the waste to pass. To begin with, first you mark the area that the shower tray is going to cover. After this you have to remove that floor area and put the plywood. You have to make access for the waste to drain out. After drilling holes and making a tongue section for waste traps, you should continue to install the waste draining pipe. At this point you have to do is remove the protective film if your tray has one. Then you have to fix the waste trap to the tray and protect any thread that is being exposed by masking tape. This makes it better. After this you have to fix the tray to cement and prevent it from moving. Check that all the appliances are in place and remove the extra cemented areas. When everything has been checked then you have to seal the tiling areas with silicone sealant.
When it is a tray that is to be installed on a raised platform, then you have to make a frame and place the tray on it. The waste pipe has to be fixed at the bottom and then you have to follow almost the same instructions as the one mentioned above. When the installation of the tray is complete, you must keep in mind not to use any such instructions for a decorative finish. Also take sufficient efforts to look through the instructions manual that is given by the shower trays by manufacturers.
